It
has been a very quiet day. I stayed home from work to take care of Mother. She
has not really started to turn the corner yet with the cellulitis. Still feels draggy, leg hurts, etc.
I
picked Michael up from school – the highlight of my day. We rode up to Brusters
and got an ice cream, to get me out of the house and to have a little break. He
was good about doing his homework quietly in my room, and generally helping
around the house.
Alesia
has been very agitated since she got home. She has bristled at everything I’ve
said to her. I think she is just nervous about Mother. She lived through the
nightmare 3 ½ years ago when Mother fell and broke both shoulders. We never
want to go through that again. Alesia adores her grandmother.
I had
two laughs today.
Michael gets an after breakfast snuggle every day, and every day Coco barks up a storm. I don’t know why. She always has barked furiously if I hugged or snuggled with Michael. I think she regards him as her property. So today we were snuggling and Coco was dancing around, doing her usual act. Michael looked down at her and said “I have two words for you, Coco: breath mint.”
See below for a rare closeup of Coco. This was taken Christmas day, which is why the room is so messy..
Mother
ordered some new moisturizer, and gave me the one she bought recently and didn’t
like. It’s L’Oreal, which is a good brand. I like it, so far, except for the
marketing. It’s called “Age Perfect.” What amused me is the claim printed on
the container that it’s a: “Double Action De-Crinkling & Illuminating
Treatment.” Way down at the bottom it says Mature Skin. Oh really? So
young people don’t need to “de-crinkle”? I just chuckled when I read that. Why
don’t they say wrinkle cream? What’s wrong with the word “wrinkle?” Has it
become more politically correct to say “crinkle”? That word evokes images or
breakfast cereal or Santa Claus, for me, not beauty treatments…
