It has been one of those horrible days when several things have gone wrong, and I have been running around like a crazy lady all day long. Plus it was 95 degrees outside.
Here's what went wrong today.
Alesia couldn't be waked up. I went into her room at 6:30. I went in again at 6:40. I turned on the light. I thought she was awake. She wasn't. I came in and checked email and at 7:22 I went back to check and she had turned off the light and gone back to bed. She has a sore throat and doesn't feel well. She has to go to school, though, so she can retake that history test in a few weeks. So I ran downstairs and made a sandwich for her to eat in the car while I took her to school.
Came home and watered all the plants in the yard. Sweated buckets.
Then I had to get Mike ready to go to his 2 hour tennis clinic, even though his tennis coach picked him up. His daughter is taking the clinic, so we are carpooling. Mike has to be told several times to get up, get his clothes on, eat breakfast, etc.
I came home and had almost half an hour to do nothing, then I had to pick up Alesia. I picked up her, brought her home, then picked up Mike and Katie.
Came home, ate a quick lunch, and headed out. Mother's car tire was flat so we called the guys from the Chevron to come fix it. I took Alesia to the mall to hang out with a friend, and I went to an appointment.
I had to go in and talk to a recruiting firm. I couldn't find the building in the ginormous office complex.
The main interviewer was the most un-nice, cold person ever. She acted like I was not employable because I don't know certain software programs. They made me take a bunch of idiotic tests, too. I'm sure I scored 100 on the proofreading and filing tests [yep, I know the alphabet and I have a master's degree in English]. I missed some on the secretarial tests because, hello, I have never been a secretary. I don't type too fast but I am accurate. I have an excellent resume and I've never had trouble getting a job, until recently. I pointed out a new employee always has to learn new software. They want people who know everything already. Very frustrating.
Then the doctor's office called and said I had to have a new Synthroid prescription. So I picked up Alesia, swung by the house and got Mike, and off we went to Kroger. It was so hot, my clothes were soaking wet by the time we got there. The kids each drank an entire bottle of water, in the car.
I had been talking on the cell, and my head was sweating so much I had to keep wiping off the cell phone.
Came home and rested, then did some housework, getting ready for lunch guests tomorrow.
We also have to get Mother's new tire put on tomorrow, and I need to make Alesia a doctor's appointment about her sore throat.
So that was my exciting day here in the back portion of Hell...
I just looked at the calendar a little earlier tonight and thought wow, next weekend is my birthday. I will be 48. Yikes. I feel about 68 right at the moment.
