It’s been a very busy day.
Alesia and I went to Target this morning and she did her Christmas shopping. We came home and wrapped a lot of them. She is becoming a good wrapper, though a few things got put into boxes and taped up before I realized she didn’t understand about tissue paper.
Also before lunch we accomplished me putting gas in the car, taking Coco to the groomers, and a trip to Kroger.
We picked up Elena after lunch, and she spent the afternoon and evening with us. She is such a sweet little girl. She had made Christmas ornaments for us in her art class. Alesia gave her her Christmas present too, some earrings we found at Target.
At Target, I bought a new bra. Later I took it upstairs to my room and when I walked in, Alesia looked at me and sort of rolled her eyes, and said to Elena [who was watching a movie with her on my TV] “Look, that’s Mom’s BRA!” in a very deep voice. She rolls her R’s, so it was really droll. I imitated her little voice and she and Elena had a giggle fit.
Right after lunch, while Mother was still eating, Alesia came out with one of her funnier remarks. We had warned her it was rude to blow her nose at the dinner table. She got a funny look on her face, jumped up and grabbed a Kleenex off the desk, and said “My nose, it is FULL!” and scurried into the next room to blow her nose, loud and long.
After dinner tonight, we watched an excellent movie, a 1984 version of A Christmas Carol, starring George C. Scott. The settings and costumes were very realistic. The acting was excellent. Alesia was enthralled. I know she didn’t understand all the vocabulary, but she got the basic story. I remember being scared and delighted with that every time I saw it, even in a cartoon version. It really is a classic.
Mother pointed out to me that I have been rather grumpy all day. I think that’s true. It started when I walked into Alesia’s room and found she had borrowed my shoes without permission. I had to fuss at her about that first thing, and mark off a point on the behavior chart. I was proud that I didn’t lose my temper. I have lost it several times in the last few days. I hate that I haven’t been more patient.
I feel a lot of stress right now, between work and Christmas bills, and wondering if we will have a nice Christmas or if Bruce will be in a foul humor. I hope he will make an effort to be cheerful, for Alesia’s sake. She bought him a beautiful shirt at Target this morning.
