We were heathens today and skipped church. I actually wanted to go, because I love seeing the big Advent wreath down front and singing advent carols, but Alesia’s cold was pretty noisy yesterday and I just didn’t think it a good idea to get her into a crowd.
We had a good day, a relaxing one.
We lazed about this morning. We had an early lunch at The Mad Italian, then went to the Container Store. I bought Alesia a big storage box for under her bed. She had wanted one.
Mother went to Barnes & Noble and bought 4 mysteries. That should last her another week or so.
We then went to Fresh Market and bought a beautiful beef tenderloin for Christmas dinner, and various other goodies.
I picked up some edible stocking stuffers. I need to sit down with all the stockings here in a minute and see what is lacking, see how I need to spend lunch hours this week. I think there’s enough for Bruce and Alesia. Mother needs some more items.
I put together Alesia’s science experiment this afternoon, with her participation of course. We also studied for her test in Georgia Studies. She is doing well in both subjects, I believe. I am letting her take more responsibility for her academics, and we will see how it works out next grading period.
Alesia was in a fairly good humor all day. We also did some present wrapping, and I know she is excited about Christmas.
When we got back from our shopping this afternoon, Coco had climbed up on the table and somehow pulled down a bottle of liquid yogurt on top of her head. Alesia and I have washed her off twice but her head still has spiky places which make her look sort of punk. This started because Mother eats a lot of yogurt and lets Coco lick the container…
I finished a great book this afternoon, Blood Memory by Greg Isles. He writes great thrillers. Now I have nothing to read. I know I am getting a book for Christmas – I picked it out on Amazon and ordered it and told Mother to wrap it up for me. I just don’t know if I can go a week without something to read. I need the escape…
