We've had the usual hectic Saturday, not enough hours in the day. I am pondering all the things to do tomorrow and there are still not going to be enough hours...
The gas shortage here in Atlanta is bad. I went to 4 stations today and found no gas anywhere. Yesterday, I found a station with gas but the lines were too long. I'm hearing about my friends spending 30 minutes or more in line for gas. I'm down to a quarter tank so tomorrow I have to either find some, or drive my brother's truck..
Alesia had a babysitting job this morning for the neighbor down the street, little Mia. She said she got Mia to eat her breakfast, and played with one of her music making toys. It's so good for Alesia to be with Mia, I feel. Mia's Mom is a terrific neighbor. We are so blessed to have so many good neighbors. Whatever the drawbacks are of my old house, I really like this neighborhood.
Michael had his second therapy session. He played some videogames with the therapist. She tried to get him to talk but he didn't want to talk. It's going to take some time for her to get him comfortable, and help him recall things. It will not be a quick process.
We ate a quick lunch, and then Michael was picked up by his friend Clay's family and they went down to Piedmont Park for the tennis match. Mike didn't get to play, but he watched. Afterwards, the family took Michael to the Botanical Gardens, which he enjoyed, then home with them to have supper. They are really nice folks, and it's good for him to see how other families do things. I asked if he saw the kinetic art exhibit at the Botanical Gardens and he said "The WHAT?!" When I tried to explain it he looked at me like, I am so not buying this movable art stuff, Mom, jeez...
Alesia and I went to see a movie called My Best Friend's Girl whiel Michael was out this afternoon. It stars Kate Hudson. I thought it had some pretty clever lines, but it had a lot of sexual situations that made me rather uncomfortable. Alesia giggled a lot and took it in stride. There was nobody in the theatre except us. I thought about writing a review of it, but this one here will suffice. It's a lot more raunchy film than your typical romantic comedy, and not one I will ever order from Netflix.
I spent some time late this afternoon reviewing the material on Alesia's next world history test, and trying to help her formulate a study plan. I was really intrigued by the explanations of Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. I was trying to tell her about reincarnation, and she kept looking at me with great suspicion. Finally, she said "That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!" Even after I pointed out that we've watched some movies where those Buddhist principles are main points [On A Clear Day, Defending Your Life] she still wasn't buying it. I like to believe we are reincarnated. I really think there may be something to it. I can't prove it, it's just a feeling I have. Maybe it's just foolish optimism that in my next life I can be taller and have thin thighs...
