Well,
I slept a little later than usual this morning because I got very little sleep
last night. The kids didn’t sleep well, either. Alesia has some sort of itching
on her legs, due to putting some hand cream on them, I am sure.
Michael
was very subdued when he got home from school. He did get his MP3 player back,
though, which surprised me.
I
emailed the therapist early this morning about how to handle the situation with
him, and she said basically, pick your battles. I had committed to punishing
him for the non-compliance with teeth brushing last night. So when I got home I
just took $10 from his wallet. When I told him about it later he was really
mad.
“Dude,
instead of going to bed early for a week, you just gave me $10! Not a bad deal!”
I argued. He was not happy. “Think of it as a deposit on the many dental bills
I am going to have to pay,” I told him. He was still not happy.
However, he
and Alesia were thrilled to get a box from Uncle Bruce, who had picked up tee
shirts and hats for them on his recent travels. I really liked the shirts. They
are grey with silvery lettering that says Air Force.
Michael
had gotten over being in a snit by the time we ate dinner. Alesia proceeded to
make funny noises and he got tickled. Then Alesia got the giggles. This is a
typical dinner for us. For dessert, the children were thrilled to eat some very
yummy brownies that Brian made. He is such a sweetie.
Tonight,
we finished watching Men In Black II [very mediocre film] and started Speed,
which is a great action film. Michael thinks of Keanu Reeves as “the Matrix
guy,” and likes anything with him in it.
Last
night we finished watching Coal Miner’s Daughter, the Loretta Lynn story.
Alesia was thrilled to hear her sing at the end, because we always subtitle
films and it showed the lyrics. “She wrote a song about her LIFE!” Alesia
squealed. “I could never do that! Wow!”
Michael
started to give me a hard time about brushing his teeth tonight, and I just
said “You don’t brush, I get another $10.” He started to protest. “Plus, you
have STINKY breath, dude!”
I
think the breath comment did it. Wish I had thought of that last night.
