Atlanta is bursting with spring foliage. Maybe it’s the rain we’ve had the last couple of days. I don’t know. I just want to take my camera everywhere and capture the beautiful azaleas, redbuds, even tulips I saw in one yard nearby. The older I get the more I appreciate God’s decorating.
I hate golf, but I like this photo of the Augusta National, where the Masters is played. In a week or so, there will be gorgeous azaleas like this everywhere here and in Augusta. There are even some in my yard.
It occurred to me last night that there is a
movie I failed to mention the other day, and it deserves mention because it
holds a special place in my heart. It’s called Dan in Real Life.
It stars the brilliant Steve Carell and is just hysterical. Also great movies
are:
Defiance
And Then She Found Me
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Hellboy I and II
You can find reviews of all these [except Hellboy] on my movie review site, Scribblerchick's Movie Dish.
Yes, I am shamelessly promoting the site. I
don’t post on there all the time, but I post about once a month, sometimes
sooner. I don’t get to go see many movies that appeal to grownups.
I am not big on sci-fi or movies made from
comic books, but I have to say I really enjoyed both Hellboy movies. They are
intelligent and have funny moments, and good character development, unlike so
many of those type films.
We watched a cute movie tonight, Blow Dry,
a little British movie about rival hairdressers. It was one of Natasha
Richardson’s last movies. She is excellent in it. You should rent it – if you
have Netflix. I don’t know about other rental places.
Michael was brushing his teeth tonight after
the movie and he kept saying “bloody crap.” I pointed out that if he’s going to
adopt British slang he needs to say nice things, like “Love” not “bloody” or “oy.”
In the movie tonight everyone was always calling each other “love” or perhaps
it’s better spelled “luv.” I don’t know. My kids love watching British movies,
but neither one of them can do a British accent. I find British accents really
easy, but then I’ve watched British films all my life. My kids have cute
Russian accents that I defy any voice coach to imitate. Their southern twangy Russian
English sets them apart. LOL
We had to run to CVS tonight and pick up
Mother’s prescriptions. Alesia bought a couple of Seventeen Magazines. Then she
went back in the store for something and Michael started looking at her
magazine. She was perturbed when she got back in the car. Michael handed it
back and said something about he really preferred wrestling magazines. Then we
stopped at Jersey Mike’s and she ran in for a sandwich. As soon as she was out
of the car, Michael said to me, “I kind of liked that magazine of Alesia’s. It
had lots of pretty girls in it!”
He takes after his grandfather, who used to like to read Cosmo, for that very reason...
