Today there is a bunch of random stuff
floating around in my head. I’m just going to chew on a few things, and not worry
about being thematic. To Heck with that.
Bfore anything else, I want to say I am VERY
PROUD of my beautiful daughter. She is making all A’s and B’s! Whoo hoo! I told
her I am SO proud of her, in Russian and in English. After only 4 ½ years in
America she is doing super fantastic. You go, girl!
When I was fixing breakfast this morning I
heard a horrible story on the local news. An 11 year old boy in a DeKalb County
school hung himself, because he was being picked on by bullies. The school said they had an anti-bully
policy but it sure failed. I was outraged to read down in the article and see
where a local attorney had to pull his son out of school because the child was
beaten up and sustained a concussion – and this is the school where Michael is supposed to
go next year! OMG! My son lost his hand due to bullies beating him up. I don’t plan on telling him the school
has a problem with bullying. I do plan on telling him if anyone ever physically
tries to hurt him he can defend himself. That’s why he took karate for 6 months. That’s why his uncle teaches him
self-defense moves all the time.
In my opinion, schools that allow bullies to
go unpunished are asking to be sued and they should be sued. If my son ever
gets suspended for fending off a bully I will back him up 100%.

Wouldn’t it
be fun to raise goats and make goat’s milk products?! I think it sounds fabulous.
Probably more work than my fish farm idea, but so what. We could do fish AND
goats. It sounds very biblical and cool.
Jack Nicholson is 72 today. One of our
favorite films (as a family) is As Good As It Gets. My kids think he’s a cool guy. I remember when he
was the Bad Boy, as in The Shining. One of his funniest films is Goin’ South, where he plays a criminal
who marries Mary Steenburgen in the old west. It’s a wonderful, quirky little gem of a film. We saw it
not too long ago. To commemorate the day, I put the movie Heartburn in our
Netflix queue. That’s
another gem.
