I have finally given up on my
bifocal contact lenses. After several months, I simply cannot wear them any
more. The redness is bad enough, but then there’s the watering. My eyes Leak
all day long. I look like I’m constantly crying – not a good look for me,
incidentally.
I went to the optometrist today and
after he said “Wow!” and recoiled, I was really not in a happy mood. I have
been putting drops in my eyes for months now, and the problem has only gotten
worse. “You’re allergic to the
preservatives in the solutions,” was his comment. He prescribed an antibiotic
for the conjunctivitis.
It’s lovely to read without reading
glasses, but the eye leakage is too high a price to pay, I have decided.
I went ahead and ordered a new pair
of glasses. I have worn the same glasses for 10 years, so it was time. Now I
have to wear bifocals, and I went ahead and got the ones that change colors in
the sun, so I don’t need prescription sunglasses. It’s iffy as to whether or
not I can ever wear contacts again. I am not as bummed out about that as I
might be. I am simply tired of all the issues with my eyes.
I finally got Alesia to a shoe store
[DSW] where she found some shoes she can wear to school. The school has
forbidden flip flops. On Friday she wore some little canvas ballet slippers,
and in the drenching rain they got pretty trashed. I started to tell her to
wear tennis shoes, but I didn’t want to start a fight and risk her missing the
bus. Today, after going to 3 stores, she finally has blue Converse high tops,
with a purple plaid lining. I am not sure, but I think they look more goofy
than Crocs. Hopefully they will repel boys.
Michael had to do his homework today
before I would let him go to the pool with his friend Colton. It’s amazing how
that spurred him on to complete 8 pages of his science workbook and 6 pages of
Language Arts worksheets. Normally he would’ve screwed around and taken a lot
of time to complete everything, but with the pool beckoning, suddenly he turned
on that brain of his and it was impressive. I am going to remind him of that
the next time he is dilly dallying over his homework.
I always tell my kids “Attitude is everything.” Maybe I should also tell them “Motivation is everything too!”
