I wrote a post last night and had it all ready to go but the computer was just being awful yesterday - slow as molasses in January and cutting off every five minutes. Grrrr....
We spent all of yesterday buying food and cleaning house. My best friend from childhood, Joanne, is in town with her husband and daughters and I was so tickled to be able to see them. They live in Ohio and rarely come through here.
I made a big pan of lasagna and we also had green beans and we ate every bit of it. The kids sat in the kitchen and Alesia said she and the girls each had 2 helpings of lasagna. The kids played board games all evening and had a great time.
In 1963 my parents bought a house on Herd Avenue in Augusta, and Joanne and her parents lived next door. She was always in and out of our house playing with me and Bruce [she is right between us in age] and we were at her house. We have stayed friends all that time, despite our move to Knoxville in 1971, and Joanne's marriage to a military man. It's the most enduring friendship in my life and it means a lot to me.
Joanne's mama and my mama are good friends, Joanne and I are friends, and after last night I can now say, our children are friends. It makes me tear up just typing that. What an amazing blessing, 3 generations of friends!
Alesia met Joanne and her girls in 2005, but she didn't speak much English then. Below I am going to post some photos, and hopefully the computer won't shut down. It's been real finicky when I try to post photos. The first one is from 2005 and shows all 3 generations in Mom's house in Augusta. Joanne's girls are very tall [over 5'8] because her husband is very tall. The others below were made last night.
