My birthday is this coming Sunday. I'm not real excited about turning 48. It never occurred to me I would spend my 48th birthday unemployed. My mental state could best be described as ACK!
My kids asked me what I wanted for my birthday and the only thing I could think of was a photo of them. The last studio shots we had made were over a year ago. So, after much grousing, off we go to the photo place at the mall this afternoon. It's out of business. So we went over to JCPenneys because I knew they were running a 50% off special. The cheapest package they had was $89 - after the dadgum discount! The kids were paying for this and they didn't have that kind of money. I couldn't afford it either, not at the moment. So the kids agreed to stay in their dressy clothes and pose for photos at home.
We went to Michael's and I picked out a 5x7 frame I liked. it was on sale. We're in the store and a Michael Jackson song, "ABC" came on the store's sound system. Mike stopped, cocked his head, and said "Listen. You're with Michael, we're in Michael's, and we're listening to Michael Jackson!"
LOL
I took 22 photos and out of those, the only decent ones are the ones below. I am a terrible photographer.
In hindsight, I wish Alesia had powdered her face a bit because there is a lot of shiny happening in these photos, but then again, they look fairly natural and normal.
I am not sure which one to print in 5x7, so let me know what you think.
The shot above is cute, but I like this one, too:
I like this one also:
I also tried to get some good closeup photos of the kids. This one of Mike came out really nice:
Can't you see what a handsome guy he's going to be when he grows up?!? Wow.
Alesia proved harder to get a decent shot of. The ones below all have issues - they aren't as pretty as she is naturally. Maybe I should try her again another time.
And of course this one of her in profile is really cool - she's on the phone texting, which is the view we see most often around here! LOL
