I was sort of joking around with Alesia at bedtime tonight, showing her how stiff she often is when I try to hug her, and she got the giggles and couldn't play like she was "Mom" so I could show her what she does. I got disgusted. Then she pointed at my face and said "OMG I have seen THAT LOOK on Uncle Bruce's face! You look JUST like him!"
The really funny thing was that as soon as she said that I knew exactly what she meant! LOL
I don't look much like my brother at all, but we have a similar outlook on the world. We are both incredibly stubborn, opinionated, single-minded, smart, and we don't suffer fools. If that sounds horrible, here are some more adjectives we share: loyal, loving, unpretentious.
I look forward to seeing my brother this weekend.
I waited all day for it to rain, and nothing. My poor garden. I need to water everything tomorrow so it won't die.
I spent most of the afternoon applying for jobs. I applied for one job working for a government contractor, and after two phone calls, they sent me pages of stuff to fill out and fax to them. Took some time to do that. They didn't ask it but I was tempted to put down MY BLOOD TYPE IS O+!! For other jobs, I've had to apply online and that takes forever. They ask you the same stuff that's on the resume, plus more. There's a job I applied for a couple of weeks ago and I just heard from the recruiter they won't even look at my resume for another 10 days or so due to the holiday. It's so frustrating.
Alesia has to re-take her graduation test in history in a couple of weeks. I quizzed her a little bit tonight about some of the material, and she didn't know it. I told her she is going to HAVE to sit down every night and just learn this stuff. They gave her a nice book with things to study. The material is not dumbed down in any way. I would have to really study to pass that test, and History was my best subject.
I just finished a terrific book called Born on a Blue Day, about a man in England who is autistic and has Aspergers but who is highly functional and can express his feelings. He really provides some fascinating insights into being autistic, and a savant. He can learn a new language in a week.
That was so serious, I immediately plunged into something lighter, a James Patterson murder mystery.
My brother finally let us know he is coming in for the weekend. We have a long Honey Do list waiting for him. I told Mike he has to clean his room for Uncle Bruce and the look he gave me was heartbreaking. I don't care. That room has to be cleaned. I am so mean. LOL
