Rarely has a day been filled with so much going on as was this day. Hard to know where to begin.
I was really depressed about the work situation yesterday, but today I feel much better. It's still not ideal, but I am more optimistic. I found out a website I had spent a lot of time working on is going to the designer in the next couple of days without too many changes. That's very gratifying to know.
My boss and I had a talk, and we agreed I will work from home from now on. It's a tiny office and he has a new guy coming in who needs my desk. I think it will ultimately be better, as I was not proficient using a Mac computer, by any means. I guess it's good to sort of know how to use one, but I fervently hope I won't have to do it again any time soon... Working from home means also that I can work on assignments when I want, and I won't have to drive 20 minutes to work. He doesn't think it will be full-time any time soon, but hopefully business will pick up in 2011, so we will see.
I came home and Mother was irritated with Alesia. I had to mediate. I won't go into details, but suffice to say, living 3 generations under one roof can be a challenge. They're OK now.
The kids and I drove over to Marietta tonight to see the lights display at Life College. It was spectacular - dozens of displays of trees, santas, elves, etc. I have never seen anything like it. Stone Mountain is closer, but I liked the Life College display. We got there in less than 30 minutes - no holiday traffic now.. We met Kate, Bob and Tommy there - Marietta is about halfway between us. There were some diorama-type displays of Santa, elves, etc. that were a bit cheesy but that was OK We all shared a funnel cake and drank apple cider and visited. It was fun. Michael gave Alesia his jacket and he draped himself in a stadium blanket I had in the car. Below are some of the cute photos Kate took. I had forgotten my camera.
I called this one "Santa down" because it looks like EMTs need to be called...
Here Santa is upright, thank goodness, and Tommy is in the photo. Amazing how much he has grown..
Alesia paying more attention to the camera than the marshmallow..
And the result... Michael looked at it and said "Yours is well-done!"
Kate and the kids. Such a cute photo, of all of them.
I look silly but the kids look cute. Note how TALL Mike is now!
