I never thought I'd see people so desperate to promote restaurants they would dart into traffic, but I've seen it happen twice in the last few weeks.
Alesia and I were stuck waiting for the train to pass in beautiful downtown Tucker recently, and a guy came out from a restaurant on Main Street and started passing out flyers about his restaurant. We looked at the flyer and the menu and seriously thought about eating there. I'd still like to check it out one day soon. He has gumption, starting a restaurant.
The latest incident happened tonight. I was driving home from work and just sitting in traffic - the kind where the light changes and you inch the car forward 6 feet - and I noticed two girls come out of a restaurant, Il Bacio, and pass out flyers AND give out free slices of pizza. I was sitting there thinking, I bet it will take forever to finish dinner and get it on the table, and I am hungry, and out they come with the pizza. I prayed the light wouldn't change. I got my pizza. I have no idea what was on it besides mushrooms. It could've used more cheese but it was hot and tasty and I didn't much care.
So darting into traffic is a trend in marketing, at least in Atlanta.
It has not felt like Atlanta all day. I actually wore a sweater! That's usually only seen for a couple of days in January or February. The high today was 39! Yikes.
Work went well. It was the first real day, since Friday all I did was get a mailing done. Today was more about learning things. The computer I'm using is very nice but it's a Mac, and I've never used a Mac. I spent the afternoon frustrated at trying to open things up and minimize them. I kept getting bounced out of things. I caught on eventually.
Late this afternoon the boss said he'd get me a different PC. Yay.
I am not a Mac person.
For dinner, I made roasted asparagus and squash. The asparagus was so tough by the time I broke off the yucky tough ends there wer just tips left. I was totally disgusted. I had some raw yellow squash, so I washed and chopped that up and tossed it with some olive oil, salt and pepper and onion powder, and roasted it for 25 minutes on 400. Excellent. Roasting made the squash slightly sweet. There was only enough asparagus for one person, but the addition of squash worked well.
I wouldn't have minded the veggies more crispy but mother needs them softer, so we compromise. I also made my wonderful chicken and rice with wine, butter, and herbes de provence, in the crockpot. Just before I came home, I called and told Mike to put the rice in the crock pot, plus a cup of water, and turn it on high. He forgot to turn it on high. When I came home it was crunchy. I knew he was going to forget.
Mike was rather out of it today, not in the new routine. He didn't get enough sleep last night. Also, he had to walk home from school. His friend Clay, who I usually take home, complained bitterly because he had to walk. It's not a bad walk for either boy. Michael had on his leather jacket. Clay said he wanted one and asked Mike where he got it. Mike answered honestly, Goodwill. I paid $20 for it, and it's a nice jacket. God bless Goodwill.

I've gotten two lovely photos of y'all but I'd like more. Send 'em on!
PRAYER REQUEST
My friend and neighbor Luana, who is one of the sweetest ladies in the world, found out last week she has a benign brain tumor. She is having surgery tomorrow. Please pray for her, and pray for strength for her family. They are wonderful neighbors. Luana came over tonight and gave me money for a cake order which she had placed before she found out about the tumor. I tried to tell her not to worry about it but she wouldn't hear of it. I will make the cake next week when she is home, and also take supper to the family one night.
