I had an entire post written out and the dadgum computer erased it. Sometimes I HATE computers.
We've had a very quiet day. I haven't left that house but that's OK. I was ready for a quiet day.
Mother is doing better and better, although still far from 100%. She slept a lot and ate very little. She did send some emails, though, and talked to her brother on the phone.
One of our neighbors brought over a basket of muffins. She was standing on the front porch with her dog, Foo, who is very well-behaved, a total sweetie. I think it's so funny when Foo goes for his walk in the morning he frequently pops into our backyard, which we don't mind, but Coco goes nuts barking. Today she was beside herself, seeing Foo on her front porch. Bruce and I both thought it was so funny though, that she did that low, back of the throat growling only when in the safety of my arms. I think before today she didn't really realize how big Foo is, at least compared to her. He probably weighs 50 lbs. He looks sort of like a really big poodle/terrier mix??
I was thinking today, you know, I am a SPINSTER. I've never been married. I well remember playing the card game Old Maid, at my grandmother's house as a kid and thinking I'll never be a poor OLD MAID! Perish the thought. Now I realize I am perfectly OK with it. Not everyone is meant to be married or partnered.
Here's my person hero: Queen Elizabeth I. She became queen of England when it was weak and faltering and turned it into one of the strongest countries on earth.
I love quotes and Elizabeth's quotes really rock. This one is my personal favorite:
My Lords, do whatever you wish. As for me, I shall do no otherwise than pleases me.
(Elizabeth to Parliament on the succession issue)
