Thunderstorms rarely bother me, but last night was an exception. We had some monster storms roll through here. It was very difficult to sleep.
I had a frustrating day yesterday, as Michael's morning baseball game was rained out, then his afternoon tennis match was rained out.
The tennis match is by far the bigger headache, because I had driven out to Snellville [30 minutes away] to play, praying the rain would hold off, and it didn't. Now we are rescheduled for this afternoon at 4, but there's still a 30% chance of more storms.
On top of everything else, I have been scrambling madly for more than a week to reschedule the two matches that ALTA scheduled to be played over the spring break weekends, April 2 and 9. Most all the kids are out of town. Michael is here, of course, since we can't afford to go anywhere. I am not big on taking off for spring break anyway. It's just not my favorite time to vacation. I prefer right after school is out.
The bright spot yesterday was taking Mike's friend Colton out to Steak N'Shake for his birthday. he's such a sweet boy.
Michael and I watched The Pride of the Yankees last night. Alesia was working. It's a great old movie. I was glad to see Mike wasn't bored with it. The older films look rather quaint these days. Nothing explodes, there are no hip, funny lines. Gary Cooper actually was far less wooden than in his later films. I used to watch a lot of old movies, when I was a kid and watched the 4:00 movie every day. I don't watch them much now.
Anyway, since Michael has such an interest in baseball now I thought he ought to know something of the greats. We own the movie Babe, about Babe Ruth. It's a flawed film but it gives some good information. We have some family stories about Babe too, as he and my grandfather were acquaintances. Papa was very straight arrow - didn't smoke or drink or party - but he respected Babe as a baseball player.
Anyway, off to Sunday school, then Kroger, and then back to the tennis courts...
