Wow, just when life seems to have calmed down, and we are settling into a "new normal" along come upheavals again. I got a text from Alesia tonight. She said she is OK and she will call me about coming by to pick up her things.I assume she will come by over the weekend but I don't know that.
I am glad to know she's alive, of course.
The message I WANT to hear isn't "I'm OK" but "I'm turning my life around." Maybe that won't happen for a long time, though, if ever.
The area code of the call is from a different state, so exactly where she is, I don't know. She could be here in town and just using someone else's cell, of course.
Living with Alesia was always frustrating. My friend Cindy posted this about the difficulties she encounters with her kids, and Alesia fits almost every single one of these criteria. The worst of them, though is that she has difficulty comprehending cause and effect. Sometimes it's something relatively small, like IF you fail to study, you fail the test. Others are more disturbing. IF you break the law, you go to jail. IF you don't pay your bills, you ruin your credit rating.
And of course the most important, IF you don't listen to Mom, you screw up your life.
I always read my horoscope, just for fun, and today's is particularly interesting:
"Today's Full Moon brightens your 7th House of Relationships, stirring up a bit of trouble or excitement. A current partnership could run into a wall that requires you to focus on your emotions and communicate what you're feeling as clearly as you can. If there's someone new in your life, resolving a touchy conflict now can set the foundation for what comes next. Either way, you'll do better if you respond directly from your heart."
I told Alesia I was glad she's OK, and to just call me. Wasn't sure what else to say. I do not want her living at home again, given her recent behavior.
Keep praying, y'all.
IN OTHER NEWS
I've had a pretty mundane day. Nothing else to really report, except that the weather was unseasonably cool and delightful. I had to work all day, but I spent some time outside working in the yard this afternoon, and that was restorative.
