This feels like a Saturday. I am off work today. It feels like it should be Christmas Eve. Then again, I still have baking to do, and a LOT of housecleaning, and grocery shopping, so....
Good thing it's not Christmas Eve, I'd be even more behind than I am now.
Worked until 6 last night and drove home in a torrential downpour. It rained for two days straight this week. It's cloudy and a 20% chance of rain today and tomorrow. I am so tired of this creepy un-Christmaslike weather! My sinuses are not happy either.
The temps were so high, my house got stuffy and I had to run the air conditioner. About 6 this morning the heat kicked on, but I was still running the air. I couldn't wake up enough to turn off the air. Nearly froze in the shower.
I'm trying to get in the Christmas spirit. It's tough. With my daughter absent, everything just feels off kilter. My cousin sent a lovely box with small gifts for us all, even Alesia, which was sweet of her. I have no idea when she will get it. Alesia won't tell me the address where she lives so I can send stuff to her.
On to more happy subjects.
I checked Michael's grades online. He made 2 A's and 2 B's in his core classes. In his electives he made all A's. Not bad for a kid who couldn't speak English 4 1/2 years ago.
This is Mike in 2008 with my cousin Tony. It's such a cute photo. Tony is one of my favorite cousins and has always been more like a big brother to me. I wish I saw him more often. He lives in Kentucky.
Tony is a good person for Mike to emulate. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Virginia and has a Ph.D. in history.
So, lots to do today. I have to get Mike up so he can talk to the neighbor about cat sitting this weekend. He has tennis this afternoon at 5.
Mother has an appointment this afternoon with the cardiologist.
I need to pick up a couple of last-minute presents, and do some cleaning and more baking. Bruce is coming in tomorrow.
Saw a good quote on Facebook: The more anger in your past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.
So true. I'm trying not to be mad at my sinuses.
Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend.
