Yesterday was one of those hectic weekdays that leaves me counting down to Friday. By the end of the day I was wiped out. I did catch one break, in that the thunderstorms predicted didn't hit until after we were all safe at home.
Coco, because of her Ehlers Danlos**, is very difficult to groom. You can't really use regular clippers on her. Mike and I have tried grooming her, but we couldn't get all the hair mats.So I took her to the vet yesterday morning before work, for them to sedate her and groom her. Mother and I then commenced to praying hard, all morning. She is so delicate. I was able to pick her up about 1:30, and now she looks like a chihuahua. Seriously.
The ahir on her back is so short, it's velvety. Don't know why they left so much hair around her little face. Maybe they didn't want to take a chance of hurting her.
Anyway, as you can see above without her fluffy coat she looks sort of spindly-legged and pitiful. They bathed her. She smells, um, perfumy. Better than stinky, but still... LOL
So I left work at lunch and dashed back to Tucker and got her and took her home, then went back to work. Forgot to change my shirt. Smelled like wet dog all afternoon. Nobody came in my office. What a shock..
After school, Mike had no tennis due to water on the courts, so we went to Walgreens to pick up his acne prescriptions. Got home and realized we were missing one and had to go back. Picked up sandwiches for dinner.
Our movie last night was one of the lesser-known Tom Hanks' offerings, The Terminal. Cute movie.
Hopefully today won't be so hectic. All I have to do is drive the carpool, if they have tennis.
**"Disorder - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome"http://sydney.edu.au/vetscience/lida/dogs/search/disorder/341/Ehlers-Danlos%20Syndrome"
The skin of a dog affected by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome will have one twenty-seventh of the tensile strength of normal skin, and will tear very easily. If surgically stitched the skin will heal normally. However, without stitches the wounds will form large scars. These scars may be thin and highly pigmented. Other include loose joints, bruising on the legs or body due to fragile blood vessels, small lumps under the skin, fragile muscles, lameness without pain, and a thin and dry hair coat. There may be abnormalities of the eyes such as cataracts (cloudiness of the lenses) and poor ability of the pupils to contract in the presence of light. It is unusual to see all the symptoms in an affected animal. The most common is fragile or loose skin. Activities that may lead to skin damage should be avoided, and rough or sharp objects or areas in the dog's environment should be removed or altered to decrease the risk of injury to the dog."
