Never underestimate the power of a movie to distract and entertain you. I don't. During some of the most stressful times in my life I have gone to the movies and been able to unwind.
So yesterday afternoon, my sinus headache gone, I took Michael and Colton to see Gangster Squad. It's based on real events in Los Angeles in the 1940's when Mickey Cohen ruled the city. Really fun movie, despite Sean Penn's ridiculous scene-chewing. I hadn't seen him in years. He's really gross looking in this movie. (Of course, I hate his politics so that colors my opinion, I admit...)
Ryan Gosling looked delightful, as usual, although his voice was very soft and raspy in this film and I didn't like it.
Mireille Enos, a young actress who played James Brolin's wife, was really good. She is someone to watch.
