Last week was inordinately busy, and I was getting over a cold. So it was stressful, too.
I know I am getting old because yesterday was a near-perfect day, to me, and we did nothing. I didn't leave the house. (I specifically avoid Easter church because it's always horribly crowded.)
I only did three tasks yesterday: I loaded the dishwasher and ran it, washed the sheets and re-made Mother's bed, and helped Michael with a project for Biology.
I also watched some TV [a rarity] and took a nap.
My cooking was limited to grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. We ordered pizza for dinner.
I did one really important thing yesterday and I didn't even get off my chair to do it.
Michael and I started watching the movie Argo last night. If you know anything about movies, you know it won Best Picture of 2012, which it richly deserved. It's got some great lines in it. You can see them here.If you have not seen the film, I urge you to see it.
If you have kids older than 10, I urge you to show it to them, after first explaining that THIS EVENT, the Iran hostage crisis, started the house of cards that led to 911, and the Arab Spring - events much closer in time to us now. This is recent history, and it is crucial to now, it affects our lives now. Every one of us. From the ridiculous gas prices we have now, to why we have to wait hours to get on an airplane, to how America is viewed in the world. There were HUGE repercussions to the Iran hostage situation and historians will be analyzing all these facts for the next 300 years. Kids need to know this.
Sorry, I will hop off the soapbox now...
