We got terrific thunderstorms last night and I was so relieved, thinking they would wash away the pollen. They did not.
Michael and Bruce and I left the house this morning and Michael pointed down the street, and we could see clouds of pollen blowing around. It was creepy.
Bruce took Michael to a nearby indoor range and he did some target shooting.
Michael
is holding his own pistol that Uncle Bruce gave him. He only shoots it
with Uncle Bruce standing right there. Bruce is fanatic about gun
safety. Below, the two of them in 2008. Time flies!
While
they shot at paper plates, I sat in the lounge and read a book. I had
to sign a waiver for Michael to be able to shoot but that's fine with
me. I totally trust my brother with Michael. My brother is a retired
Army major and he actually gets paid to teach people how to shoot.
We had an early lunch at Papi's Cuban and Caribbean Grill. Very tasty food. I couldn't tell you the names of anything on my sampler platter but it was all yummy.
We came home and I had such fun inspecting my garden, and the tiny shoots that are now in my Jiffy pots and other small containers. I have tomatoes, radishes, and cantaloupes pushing up through the soil. Those tiny shoots are SO exciting to me! Hopefully the peppers and squash will come through soon.
My
bigger garden has wild violets growing beside it. I hate to pull them
up. [I obviously ain't too efficient about weed pulling either, LOL]
I can think of few things as exciting as gardening. Not so long ago I wouldn't even eat most vegetables.
Speaking of which, Bruce made the best dinner last night. It was a stew of ground beef and onions, cherry tomatoes, tomato sauce, spinach, and he mixed in tortellini. YUM.
See y'all tomorrow...
