I cannot believe April is almost over and May is here. Michael gets out of school May 24th. Between now and then we are doing a LOT of homework.
Yesterday we spent more than 2 hours on homework and didn't get finished.
I didn't feel well all day yesterday, and I was running running all.day.long. At nearly 9 last night I told Michael we couldn't watch any more episodes of Modern Family - we get them on Netflix. He pouted. I said "I have to go in an help Granny get her sheets back on her bed, then fix her legs [I wrap them in support garments], start another load of laundry, clean up the kitchen, put the clean sheets on my bed, and then get a shower. He just looked dazed.
By 10:30 I fell into bed exhausted.
We went to Kroger yesterday after school, because I had forgotten a few things on Sunday, but more importantly because Michael had applied for a job as a bag boy there. He needed to meet a manager in person, give them a face to put with the application. The lady manager we spoke to was very kind. Michael was NOT wanting to do this by himself, so I went with him.
He is worried they will not hire him because of the missing hand. I told him this Kroger obviously is managed by folks who looks past superficial things. They have some folks with Downs Syndrome who work there. He is seen in the store every week, and always helps me find things, load the car, and even does our bagging at the checkout counter if they are short of baggers. When Mom goes he helps her in and out of her motorized cart and is very sweet to her. So I am hoping and praying they will hire him and he can earn some money this summer.
My old Mazda is sitting in the driveway with a cracked head gasket, not driveable, but $1200 will fix it up, and it's a good car. That's the goal. To get him into a car of his own. He can handle the responsibility.
It wouldn't hurt if y'all would say a prayer for him to get this job!
Here's my handsome boy, ready for school this morning:
