I am very tired because I went to the pool this afternoon and either swam or walked 20 laps. Took more than an hour. I don't go fast. However, I was tickled to be able to do 20 laps, when I'd only been doing 15 the past couple of weeks. I am trying to go every other day.
I was talking to a friend of mine late this afternoon and she struggles with weight, too. I told her that since I am a Sweetsaholic, I have been having to simply substitute. Instead of a cookie or ice cream, I eat Greek yogurt or a granola bar. Instead of bread, I eat a small salad.
Is it easy? NO.
Is it worth it?
Absolutely.
I have a long way to go but I am moving in the right direction.
For dinner tonight I had boiled shrimp and some curly kale. I used Pioneer Woman's recipe, but I added some butter and onion powder. YUM.
Michael spent 5 minutes making his own cocktail sauce [ketchup, horseradish, hot sauce, lemon juice, etc.] and then dropped the bowl. So we had to get Coco out of there and behind the baby gates, and frantically try to get up all the glass. It was a small bowl, but still scary. none of us need cut feet.
Anyway, I liked the kale. It held its shape better than spinach. It also has a better taste than spinach, in my opinion.
I also am trying to drink tons of water. I was already a big water drinker but it's gotten serious now. I know the location of every bathroom within a 10 mile radius of the house.
If you struggle with weight view it as a process. Make a couple of small changes every week. Like, one week eat fruit instead of sweets - and keep eating it. Next, walk in place in front of the TV for 15 minutes every morning. Next, give up all beverages except water. No booze. No fruit juices - they are full of sugar. No sodas - even diet ones are very unhealthy.
If I can do this, anyone can.
