Yesterday was a stressful day on many different fronts, and I just didn't feel up to blogging. Some of it I can't blog about. However, there were bright spots.
A dear friend of our family passed away yesterday, in Asheville. She was 92 years old and in very poor health, so it was a blessing, but it still saddens us. All day long, the nurses said, she was looking up and smiling. I think she was happy to be joining the rest of her family on the other side. She had no children but her brother, that she adored, died a couple of years ago, and I am happy to know she is reunited with him.
I am having some "female issues" that are exacerbated by the heat, so I am trying to very carefully plan all my "running around" for the cooler morning hours.
I am trying to plan a little birthday luncheon. My birthday is July 4th. Every year, everyone is always out of town or spending the day on the lake or something. So it's tough. I am trying to do it on July 6th, a Saturday, and it's still tough... A few folks can meet us, thankfully.
I got some spanakopita and hummus last night at the Grecian Gyro in Tucker and it was wonderful! All their side dishes are awesome, and make a terrific meal.
Michael was out with friends last night, so Mother and I started a really terrific movie, Quartet. It takes place in a retirement home for musicians and it features the wonderful Billy Connolly and Maggie Smith. Awesome movie for any age, but parents and grandparents will particularly like it.
Maybe the best part of yesterday was going to the pool and swimming. Michael's friend Colton was there and they were having a blast together, as usual. The water was cold when you stuck your toe in, and after I put sunscreen on Mike he didn't want to get in the water. Colton just chased him down, and picked Michael up and threw him over his shoulder, and walked around the pool to the steps, where he just walked him into the water. The lifeguards didn't fuss. The one next to me said "I guess I should stop this...?" I just said to her "Nope, Colton would never hurt Michael, don't worry." The amazing thing is how strong Colton is - Mike is 128 lbs. of solid muscle.
Despite all the stress in my life, I continue to feel blessed we live in a wonderful neighborhood and we have kind neighbors and friends who watch out for us..
