Yesterday was a rainy day but not pouring rain, more like intermittent sprinkles and lots of fog. I took Lola for our morning walk and when we got back there was a lot of drying to do. She is so low to the ground that if she walks through grass when it's wet her entire underbelly gets wet and muddy. So I have to sit down on the steps and take a big towel and spend a good bit of time rubbing her dry. Even after I did that, she got on the loveseat above and curled into a little ball. So I wrapped her up in the red throw. We keep several of those around just for such reasons, and they wash up beautifully.
Some dogs wouldn't tolerate this wrapping, but she did. Mother and I both agreed, this is one of the cutest photos we have of her.
She has an uncanny knack for knowing when Michael is coming home, even though his hours are unpredictable right now. We were in the front yard the other day and her entire body tensed, as she looked to the left, her tail high in the air and wagging excitedly, like it does when she sees someone she likes. We stayed out there a few minutes, but nobody was in sight. She finally tinkled and we went on back inside. Within just a few minutes, Michael walked in the door.
Needless to say, she adores her boy.
And he adores her. When he is stressed out, he will love on her without reservation, and of course she loves that. This is why pets are so good for kids, particularly dogs. They are so affectionate, if they've been around humans a lot.
Kids who have been traumatized benefit greatly from being around horses. It's called Equine Therapy. A friend of Alesia's who had a really tough start in life has done really well with it, and is now finishing college.

I almost giggled a little while ago when I saw Michael eating his french toast. He took his fork and made a lot of tiny holes in the toast, then slowly and carefully poured in the syrup, making sure each hole was filled. It's exactly how my brother would have eaten it.
We are due for a nice weekend, with highs in the 60's. I am ready for it. So tired of winter.
Happy Friday!
