Life is pretty quiet right now, but for those of you who are regular blog readers, here's an update on what's happening with us during these dog days of August.
Many of Michael's friends are going off to college. I've watched these kids growing up for the past 8 years and it's bittersweet to see them becoming young adults. Happy for them, sad because I miss those cute smiling kids...
We are trying to get Michael registered for some college classes so he can start at Georgia Perimeter in a couple of weeks. Arranging financial aid has been an ORDEAL. He's got to go over to campus Monday and try to get it all worked out. Pray for us. Seriously.
I have had a really busy summer work-wise, but the ETS job ended and now I am scrambling around for more job opportunities. It would be nice if I could work from home but those jobs are scarce, so I am applying to everything. Have had a couple of interviews. Something will work out. Have some part-time work to do in the meantime but it's not enough. Need prayer covering on this too..
I've been following the journey of the Delgado family for several years. They adopted a toddler from Russia named Anton, who has EB. Anton is in the hospital and having a lot of issues lately. Please check out their blog and send prayers. Anton has an amazing spirit, but he needs to get better. EB can be fatal.
I finally had a chance to go swimming yesterday afternoon. Couldn't swim for weeks after my surgery, then had to work all the time during July, even on weekends. Missed swimming. The water felt SO good. I was able to do about a dozen laps, slowly.
I am trying to walk Lola more each day, working up to 45 minutes hopefully by the time the weather cools off.
Michael and I both had checkups last week, with a new doctor. My old doctor moved 20 minutes away. I am a firm believer that when I am sick, I do not want to have to drive across town. So the new doctor is 5 minutes from the house. I like her a lot.
Michael has been having stomach issues. She told him to take a probiotic and gave us some samples. His stomach has been much better, just in the past couple of days. He takes a low dose of antibiotics every day for acne.
I was telling a friend of mine recently that when I was young my hair had a lot of red in it - especially when I got out in the sun. Scanned in the photo below to prove my point. Now, to work on getting that skinny again...
