I am excited to announce that I have started a new blog and I am looking for contributors to help me out with it. The blog is called What Do I Want to Do With My Life? It's designed to help students who are trying to decide what career would be best for them.
When I was in college I began with the notion that I would be an actress. After a couple of years I realized that wasn't a practical choice for me, for a lot of reasons. Then I didn't know what to do. I knew I liked to write, but I really had no idea where to go to get real, practical information about different writing careers, so I could make a good decision. I worked at a bookstore for a while, until my dad offered to send me to paralegal school. I had NO IDEA what a paralegal did, or how a law firm operated. I was clueless.
Here's one of my favorite quotes: If you want to know about the journey, ask someone on the way back.
If you want to know what it's like to be an accountant, ask one what they do all day. Or a nurse. Or a farmer. You get the idea.
If you have been working for at least ten years and would like to contribute, the questions are below. Leave me a comment and I will be in touch.
If you have a teenager or young person living in your house who might get some use from the site, or if you are looking to make a career change, please check back in a few days or a week, or periodically - I hope to build the site gradually. I would love to get feedback from a lot of different folks.
