It's Friday the 13th. All day long. [Cue scary music.] I don't usually get too worked up about such things because they seem pretty silly, but today I am totally trying to not freak out because of all the yucko occurrences that have happened since midnight last night.
Probably just coincidence but who knows..
It started off with me trying to go to sleep last night and Michael calling me. He was still at work. His cell phone had been stolen. Or lost. Great. Awesome. I just bought him the phone in October. I was wide awake by the time that call ended so I didn't get much sleep last night. Lola wants out no later than 8:30 a.m. so sleeping late is never really an option for me.
So today, one of our chores was to go to AT&T and re-activate one of his old phones, which was a godsend -- we didn't have to buy him a new phone.
I also am trying to deal with paying off Christmas debts which I thought I had taken care of. I won't go into details, but let's just say money is very tight this month. And I am not getting much writing work right now.
Michael's car was hit two days before Christmas, and this morning the inspector came out and looked at the car (which is in our garage) and said it's clearly a total. We cannot afford to get him a new car. So it looks like Mike will be riding the bus for a while and getting rides until we figure out something else for him. I was hoping we could get Mike's car fixed but it won't start, and the frame is bent. So it won't be a simple fix -- getting a new door from the junkyard -- like we had hoped.
We are battling rat issues. The other night, Lola woke us all up around midnight barking her head off. We had caught a rat in a glue trap in the kitchen. I just swept it outside and today it went in the garbage because the thing was clearly dead. This afternoon, I told Mike we needed to check the rat traps in the attic. Found two dead rats, which had been there a while and were rather stinky.
It's only mid afternoon so I am going to try and get a nap and hope the rest of the day won't be as crappo.
I hate to end on a sour note, so I will try to end on a positive note. I have been painting sneakers at night, while I watch TV, after dinner. I will likely try to sell them one of these days but for now I am just practicing. Some of my creations are below.
