Over a year ago I found the Facebook page for Comfort Farms and decided to reach out to Jon Jackson, the man behind Comfort Farms. Jon was an Army ranger and did 6 tours of Iraq and Afghanistan before being sidelined due to an injury in 2014. He now runs one of the most unique and effective veteran-owned and managed therapy programs in America, Comfort Farms.
I have written about Jon here and on The Cook's Cook. I have helped Jon with some marketing for Comfort Farms, too. He has become a friend.
I stand in awe of someone who has taken a hugely difficult task -- helping veterans deal with PTSD and other issues -- and triumphed. Five years ago, Jon didn't know how to manage a farm or run a nonprofit, or make a film, but he has now done all of those things.
I am proud that I introduced Jon to Carlisle Kellam, my multi-talented neighbor. Carlisle has done an incredible job of telling the story of Comfort Farms in an original and compelling way.
I invite you to check out the trailer for the Comfort Farms documentary. As soon as the entire movie is available for your viewing pleasure, I will let you know where to see it.
